What KindWatch does today — and what's next
KindWatch is being built in phases. The first version focuses on daily safety check-ins. Scam detection is coming in a free update. This page explains exactly what you get now and what's on the way.
Passive Check-Ins
Your parent unlocks their phone like they always do. That counts as a check-in. Set up to 3 daily windows — if their phone sits untouched past a deadline, you get an SMS alert. No buttons for your parent to press, no routine to learn.
Inactivity Alerts
If 12+ hours pass with no screen activity, your emergency contacts are notified. You'll know something's off before it becomes a crisis.
Activity Heatmap
See a 7-day hourly grid of when your parent's phone was used. Spot patterns at a glance — are they waking up later? Using their phone less? The heatmap makes trends visible without reading a single notification.
Guardian Dashboard
A simple web page where you can check on your parent anytime. Device status, last sync time, activity history, and reports — all in one place.
SMS Alerts to Multiple Contacts
Add siblings, a neighbor, or anyone you trust as an emergency contact. Everyone gets alerted when a check-in is missed — not just you.
These features are in active development and will ship as a free app update. No extra charge, no new install.
AI Scam Detection
KindWatch will read notifications from SMS, WhatsApp, email, and other apps — and use AI to flag messages that look like scams. Urgency language, social engineering patterns, suspicious links. Flagged items show up in your weekly report with a plain-English explanation of why they were flagged.
Weekly AI Report
Every Sunday, you'll receive an email summarizing your parent's week. Who called, what's normal, what's not. AI analyzes call patterns and notification content to surface anything unusual — so you don't have to read every message yourself.
Call Screening
Unknown callers can be screened before they ring through. You'll choose the level: log only, share with guardian, block foreign numbers, or block all unknown callers so only saved contacts get through.
Real-Time Scam Alerts
Instead of waiting for the weekly report, get an immediate notification when AI detects a high-confidence scam. The goal is to catch it in progress — before your parent replies, clicks a link, or sends money.
Known Contact Privacy Filter
By default, messages from people in your parent's address book won't be read or sent to the server. Only messages from unknown senders are analyzed. You can toggle this off if needed, but most scams come from strangers — not from your parent's existing contacts.
Why not ship everything at once?
Scam detection requires access to your parent's notifications and call data. Those are sensitive permissions, and we want to earn your trust before asking for them.
Phase 1 proves the basics work: the app stays running, check-ins are reliable, and alerts reach you on time. Once that's solid, Phase 2 adds the AI layer as a free update — same app, no reinstall, no extra cost.
Your parent won't notice the difference. The app runs quietly either way. You'll just start getting smarter reports.
A note on privacy
When scam detection launches, it will not read messages from people in your parent's address book by default. Only messages from unknown senders are analyzed. Texts between your parent and their family, friends, and doctor stay private.
You can change this setting from the dashboard if you need to — for example, if you suspect a romance scam from someone your parent has saved as a contact. But out of the box, known contacts are filtered.
